This is my first life update post, so for those of you who don’t know me in real life, we’re starting fresh here, so I’m going to include some key things you might want to know.
I recently got engaged.
Scott and I have been dating for almost eight years, and he proposed to me on New Year’s Day in Maui. It was a complete surprise, which, if you know us, you know that it was not easy for him to pull off.
I work at a startup for my day job.
I studied Nutrition in college and now work for a company called Drop Water as the Head of Operations and the Team Nutritionist. Basically, I’m in charge of the day-to-day running of the business, as well as all of our FDA compliance, food labeling, etc (and stocking our office with healthy snacks).
Scott and I lived in a short school bus for a few years and recently moved out into a tiny (~650sqft) rental house.
We’ve been in our new place since July and absolutely love it. It’s a little on the expensive side, so we’re going to explore other options for next year, but we may end up staying.. who knows.
Ok, so now you have the basics down, I’m going to dive into my March update!
Scott and I took a trip to Mexico to do some wedding planning. We met with a wedding planner, picked out table decorations, and even narrowed down a menu! It was a lot more than I expected to get done while we were there, and to be honest, I’m feeling a little apprehensive about it! I think it’s because I don’t love the idea of spending so much money and also because it’s SO far out (we’re thinking Feb 2020). I have a little bit of trouble committing to plans this far in advance because I’m worried I might change my mind about something. Case and point (I already bought and returned a wedding dress). I’m hoping that staying busy with planning and tackling one thing at a time will help the time pass more quickly.
The next things on my list are to ask my bridesmaids to be part of my big day, and figure out what I’m going to wear! I’m kind of picky when it comes to dresses – I don’t want anything too traditional or formal, so definitely looking for suggestions if you have any!
If you follow this blog, you know that I’m pretty passionate about health and wellness, nutrition specifically. I recently signed up to take a continuing education course on Nutrition at Stanford University! I’m always wanting to learn more AND I absolutely love the Stanford campus, so I’m pretty excited to get started.
One of my friend’s recently had a birthday, and as a present to him, Scott and I are joining him and his wife for a ceramics class once a week for the next couple of months. I’m looking forward to this a lot because I always want specific things for my food photography and don’t want to spend a ton of time searching the internet for exactly what I want or spend a fortune buying them.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading my update! More to come in April!
